All eyes will be on brand new musical duo Joe and Jake when they take to the stage at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
Joe and Jake first came to the public’s attention individually, competing as solo acts on The Voice UK. Jake was part of Team will.i.am and reached the knockout round whilst Joe made it all the way to the Semi Final as part of Rita Ora’s team.
Behind the scenes, the boys struck up a friendship based on their love of music, quickly followed by a shared love of peri-peri chicken and all things sporty including football and basketball and decided to professionally join forces as Joe and Jake.
Joe and Jake have both been passionate about all things music since an early age. Joe has experimented with a number of sounds over the years, including rap whilst Jake has always wanted to follow his dream of performing on stage, teaching himself guitar at the age of 14. Both Joe and Jake have an eclectic musical taste which transcends genres, citing Bob Marley, Måns Zelmerlöw and Rudimental as their musical influences.
Since coming together as a duo, the boys combined efforts are already paying off as in February 2016 they participated in national UK selection show Eurovision: You Decide and their infectious upbeat sound and energetic personalities helped them to victory, landing them the enviable position as this year’s UK entry for Eurovision. On top of all that, last month they announced a record deal with music giants Sony Music.
Now in just over a year since taking part in The Voice UK Joe Woolford, 21, a former PE assistant from Ruthin in Wales and 20 year old Jake Shakeshaft, a former NHS worker from Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire are set to perform to a huge international audience on a show which typically attracts around 200 million viewers.
Joe and Jake’s debut track ‘You’re Not Alone’, an uplifting pop song with an inclusive and universal message, will be performed in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest, which is one of the longest running and most watched television shows in the world and is without doubt, Europe's favourite TV show.
On their journey to Stockholm, Joe and Jake have already earned the support of major industry stars from Robbie Williams to Rita Ora and are working incredibly hard ahead of the final in May with a raft of promo in the pipeline across both the UK and Europe as they drum up support for their catchy and anthemic debut track.
Joe and Jake are a versatile, energetic and fun loving duo with a natural rapport and a firm friendship. They are extremely proud and very excited to be representing the United Kingdom in Stockholm this year and are equally excited to release debut track ‘You’re Not Alone’.
